Michael Jackson Dies

King of Pop Dead at 50

K.A.O.S. was on the air when the story of Michael Jackson's passing broke. Despite his personal demons the man was a brilliant artist and entertainer. The importance of this man to the advancement of popular music through the 80s and beyond has not been fully assessed. People talk in terms of records sold but those are only numbers with a dollar sign attached. The true measure of Michael Jackson is felt by those who were most influenced by him -- the current artists that grew up under his shadow. Pop music today is so heavily influenced by Jackson that it goes unnoticed, as if it was always there. No matter the personal problems that tainted his image, Michael Jackson will go down in music history next to Sinatra, Presley and The Beatles. Saw that on a message board and thought it was dead on.
